room 30

we made an afternoon trip to olympia to visit the lovely jennyrose at room 30. her shop has a great selection of art, home goods, clothing, jewelry, and kids stuff- the kind of shop you always know you are going to find something special. after we visited room 30, jennyrose gave us a behind the scenes tour of olympia where we met sarah utter and peeked into her studio. sarah has some beautiful work up at room 30 right now.

i just got back from a mini vacation to seattle. it was so nice to visit with a much missed friend. i have a few photos of the trip i'll post over the next week. these are a few of her house which has beautiful light.

i bought this bear head to sell....like most of the vintage goodies i buy with the intent to sell, i end up seriously contemplating keeping them! but i will be strong. even though i am in major love with this guy, i will put him in the shop later today.

i just got my new camera and i am so excited to play around with it tonight. i miss having actual photos since all the shots i take now are digital. but now i must return to packing birch! abby at style me pretty did a really nice post about the site yesterday and i was flooded with orders- the blog world is amazing. thanks abby!

this fella was just added to the shop. he is made from a recycled sweater and has a sad little felted face.

rain is good

it is raining buckets here today and i couldn't be more pleased. my good old computer died yesterday and i spent most of the day scrambling around buying a new one! i am so grateful to my fantastic friend karl for recovering all my files and transfering the data from old to new. i am so excited because my new imac is totally amazing, but i have a lot of packing to catch up on!

fall goodness

i went to the market this morning and picked up a variety of pumpkins and gourds, kale plants, orange pincushions, and some lovely dark fruits. i love making little displays with the birch tubes.

i just got a new box of mini birch tubes- with some large on the way! now i'm off to the flower market to find some fallish looking goodies to do a little photo shoot with them. hopefully i will have them in the shop later today.

just finished up this little series of paintings called greetings (1-8). each one is hand-painted on a smooth heavyweight paper measuring at about 6.5 x 4.5 inches. they will go into the shop tomorrow for $45 each. let me know if you are interested in pre-ordering one! (there will be some better pics too- the light is very pink this morning.)

we are so lucky to live about five minutes from a beautiful and usually empty beach- the dogs just love playing in the water but their manners for jumping on people are not so good.

vintage goodies

a few little finds for the vintage section of the shop! i love this "egg cup" so much, it has a handpainted farm scene on it with a sweet scalloped edge on top. it is too large for most eggs that i know of but it could be used as a vase for fresh herb clippings. and i also couldn't resist this wee family of bears. i will be adding these to the etsy shop tomorrow.

it is so exciting to see the market up and running. there are lots of wonderful "booths" that i need to take some time and go through tonight. i think jan had such a fantastic idea and i am so glad to be a part of it- please go check it out! i pulled out a few of my favorites but there are tons more i haven't gotten to see yet.
