still working

while i have been taking a break from crafting the past few weeks, there are lots of other things related to the business that needed some attention. i have been filling in all my spreadsheets, working on dreaded taxes, and dealing with birch! i haven't received a shipment in months so there was a very long waiting list. i wasn't able to fill all the requests either- so there is still a waiting list. i will not be posting any birch for sale online until i have been able to fill all the back orders- so if you have been waiting to see it, don't! please send me an email to be added to the list. below are less than half of the orders i am preparing to send out!

bits of organization

so it is taking way longer than i had hoped to get my workroom into shape- because the big table i ordered from ikea is taking forever to get here. in the meantime i have been cleaning and throwing out lots of junk, and micro-organizing my supplies and materials. i must say it is very satisfying!

a break

there was finally a break in the rain and cloudiness today and the sun actually came out. i took the dogs for a nice long walk and made good use of my rain (mud!) boots along the trail.

i will be adding some mushroom sets to the shop right now!

stormy and dark

it has been nothing but rain here this week, and yesterday was extra stormy. our yard is a mudpit now and last night the power went out (sorry taxes- guess i'll put you off a little longer). it is not raining this morning though so i'm off to run errands before it starts again!

lets get organized

i'm in the process of re-doing my work room to maximize productivity in the new year! our house is very tiny, so the work "room" is also matt's computer area (as well as pathway to the bedroom and bathroom and backyard). it is totally open to the rest of the house so it is important to me that it is functional and tidy. i just found this little seedling tray at ikea and thought it would be perfect for sorting all the little odds and ends i had tucked away in boxes and bags.

walk

they're back

i was able to restock my supply of vintage german cotton mushrooms today! they are in beautiful condition because they have been sealed up and stored away safely for quite some time. they originally came from an elderly german couple who ran an import/export business and had a stockpile of them in their warehouse. i should have some sets in the shop later this week.

clean up new year

i have started to redo my work room, renovate the website, and work on taxes (argh), so the new product posts will probably be pretty slim for the next month or so. and i must attend to my poor front and back yard- which are completely overgrown with weeds because i have neglected them for so long. and at my other job we are gearing up for the busiest day of the year, valentines day. some good news...i finally got in touch with my birch supplier who put a small shipment in the post today.

new perch

the dogs have a favorite spot on the new couch- they both scrunch together on the back of it to peek out the window.

tiny banner

i'm off to a "tiny tea party" this afternoon- all the guests were asked to bring "something tiny" by the birthday girl. i made this wee banner as a topper for her gift.

new hampshire

i'm back! i had an amazing holiday break- i visited my family in rhode island and took a little road trip to new hampshire with two of my bestest childhood friends. i missed my dogs (and matt!) so much and it feels good to be back home and get started on a new year! these photos are from a farm in new hampshire where we took a horse drawn sleigh ride through the snow.
